Brain Cancer: Diagnosis and Prevention

The very first diagnostic step is a neurological examination to check eye movement and vision, hearing, sensation, reflexes, balance and coordination, thinking and memory. After neurological examination is over expert may suggest imaging studies and laboratory test for further information about the tumor and its location. Diagnostic tests are often used after treatment to monitor the outcome and recurrence of tumors. Diagnosis for brain cancer may include computerized tomography scan known as CT or CT scan, magnetic resonance imaging or MRI, bone scan and lumbar puncture.
CT scan stands for Computerized Tomography: A CT scan directs x-rays from multiple angles to a specific body part like various cross sections of tissues and bony structures. This can help identify the tumor's location and can sometimes help to determine the tumor type. Additionally it can also detect swelling, bleeding or other conditions associated with the tumor. Magnetic resonance imaging combines computer technology, a magnetic field and radio waves to produce a two dimensional image of the patients anatomy. This process is radiation free and the radio waves are harmless. Positron emission tomography scans create color coded pictures of brain activity by measuring low dose radioactive levels. The PET scan measures the consumption rate of sugar substance in different parts of brain. This can be helpful in detecting recurrent tumor growth. Plain x-ray films of the head may be used to determine the condition of the head and the effect of the tumor on bony structures.
Brain cancer prevention can help person to prevent or reduce the seriousness of the disease they are affected with. There are certain steps that help to prevent the disease like exploring his or her family history and find out what diseases run in the family. If one finds any signs of the disease an immediate visit to the doctor is warranted. Avoiding things causing this serious disease like smoking, drinking alcohol and cell phones as cell phones give off radioactive waves which attack brain cells. Get a regularly health diet because healthier living promotes longer happier lives, read those books that guide you about how this serious disease is caused and what kind of symptoms they have in common. Make sure that our environment is clean as it is very beneficial to our overall health.
Brain cancer originates in the brain is called primary brain tumor. It occurs at any age. But most probably it happens in childhood and can lead to adult. It can spread and destroy nearby parts of brain. There are many instances where effects of brain cancer have spread to the brain from others parts of the body like breast cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer and so on. Brain cancer often occurs within the same family members, inheritance is also a responsible cause of brain cancer.
Treatment of brain cancer depends on the diagnosis. Brain cancer treatments involve combination of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Some tumors require several different surgical procedures, and some can be treated with radiation therapy. But the initial treatment of a brain tumor may include steroid medications to reduce growth and inflammation of brain tissue. Anticonvulsant medications may help to prevent or control illness. Drugs used in cancer chemotherapy specifically attack cells that promote division. These drugs are useful because cancer cells spend more of their time dividing and reproducing than normal cells do.-By: Mark Lee

Effective Alternative Brain Cancer Treatment

This is caused due to the formation of cancer cells) on the inner surface of skulls or on the brain's tissue-cells. It is also known as intracranial tumor as it can be developed on any location or part of the brain and is a resultant of rapid cell division. The tumors that develop on the brain can be of the following types:
  • Primary tumor: These are further classified into astrocytoma, brain stem glimos, ependymoma, oligodendroglioma and mixed glioma.
  • Secondary or metastatic tumors are cancerous cells.
  • Benign or non-cancerous tumors are less aggressive
  • Malignant tumors have a tendency to spread to other parts of brain or other organs.
Generally, there are four ways to treat to cancer. They are listed down below:
  • Killing cancer cells
  • Destroy the microbes inside the cancer cells
  • To build an immune system and to let that system cure the cancer
  • Microzyma/Somatid: By reverting microbes inside the cancerous cells again into a microbe as in "hibernation".
It is caused due to age, race and family history. Little children and men are highly prone to this disease. Also people who are exposed towards harmful radiations and chemicals like formaldehyde, vinyl chloride and acrylonitrile are highly prone to this disease.
The symptoms include:
  • Severe headache usually in the mornings
  • Vomiting
  • Swelling
  • Surrounding inflammation
  • Weakness
  • Clumsiness
  • Difficulty in walking
  • Difficulty in speech
  • Abnormal vision
  • Changes in emotional reactions or logical sense
Usually CT scans and MRI scans are used for detection of tumors located in brain. The biopsy is examined to confirm whether it is cancer or not. The standard treatment types available are surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. The alternative brain cancer treatment aids to ease out the pain, fatigue, retard cancerous cell growth and side-effects. They are listed out below:
  • Nutrition supplements rich in vitamins, antioxidants, green tea, parsleys, proteins etc are given to patients.
  • Herbal medicines provide natural ways to treat cancer.
  • Mind body medicine techniques emphasize on power of thoughts and emotions positively, to control the body.
  • Physical therapy techniques like massage therapy, reflexologies are used to alleviate the pains through manipulative techniques on the affected parts, controlled movements, bending and postures etc.
  • Imagery techniques are useful in offering peace to mind by the way of imagining beautiful natural sceneries, arts, pictures etc.
  • Meditation techniques offer peace to both mind and the body, thereby lessening mental stress caused by the afflictions.
Complementary or Alternative treatments work not only for curing brain cancer, but for curing all cancers practically. But knowledge is of prime essence. The most important thing to know is that chemotherapy, radiation, drugs and surgery are not the only options. Integrative approach is gaining prominence these days. Apart from conventional medical treatments, alternative practices are more beneficial.

Cell Phones and Brain Tumors - New Evidence of Wireless Mobile Phone Linked to Brain Cancer

OK, here we go again. Decades ago, there was widespread panic over the possibility that overhead high tension electrical power lines could be a cause of cancer for people living in close proximity or underneath them. When that was disproved, the doomsday crowd went onto blame cell phones as a possible risk of brain cancer due to tiny amounts of radiation emitted when the phone is transferring data. Thus far, after dozens of studies, there has been NO conclusive evidence that cell phones produce a significant enough amount of radiation to create a measurable increase in the risk of cancer. But is there a cause for concern? Just who conducted those tests?
A new joint study from the University of California at Berkeley and multiple Universities in Korea, reexamined 465 article published in major journals along with 23 large scale case studies of over 37,916 patients. The study group was comprised of patients with and without brain tumors. They found that when they look at the group as a whole, there was no association between brain tumors and cell phone use. When they looked closer however, and divided the large group into clinically significant subgroups, there was a clear increase in risk for cancer, of up to 30%. Furthermore, they found that some of the previous studies that had yielded results of "no risk," were in fact funded by cell phone manufacturers.
Other experts including neurosurgeons have long agreed that cell phones can cause brain tumors. One such doctor, Dr. Vini Khurana, even stated that he thought mobile phones could be more dangerous than smoking or asbestos. He pointed out the there are 3 billion cell phone users in the world, which is a whopping 3 times the number of smokers worldwide, and smoking leads to 5 million deaths per year.
Advocate groups still insist however that there is no concrete, established risk. They cite correctly that in journal after peer reviewed journal, there is an overwhelming consensus that wireless cell phones do not pose a public health risk. Their claims are further backed up by the FDA, the FCC, American Cancer Society, the National Cancer Institute and the World Health Organization. Imagine, all of those private and federal watchdog groups agreeing on a single thing!
What's the bottom line? This author still isn't sure. All I know is that there are still people who believe that the lunar landing was a big hoax. There are nurses that work for me, that sadly, still won't get vaccinations for their kids for fear of increased risk of Down syndrome. For me, I'm not giving up my cell phone anytime soon. If the risk really is that significant, then we can also say that "the place we carry the phone on our bodies, may increase the risk of cancer in that particular body area." For instance, I often carry my cell phone in my shirt pocket. Will I have an increased risk for breast cancer? Hmm, I always wondered what a mammogram would feel like...

Cell Phone Radiation And Cancer

The "Interphone Study" is the name of a multi-country analysis on cell phones and associated brain cancer risk (May 17, 2010). The combined examination and results of the 13 countries participating in the Interphone Study are published in the "International Journal of Epidemiology". Find out why you are more likely to get brain cancer after using a cell phone.
The study summarizes the data on mobile phone radiation and associated cancer risk. It reviews brain tumors, including acoustic neuroma (a tumor formed of nerve tissue) and tumors of the parotid gland. The data linked "heavy" cell phone use to a 40% increased risk of Glioma. The tumor would usually start on the side of the head that people hold their phone. If the person was right-handed, it would start behind the right ear. If the person was left-handed, it would start behind the left ear.
However, the Interphone definition of "heavy" cell phone use is only ½ hour of use per day. The average usage for people today is well over ½ hour. Furthermore, the mobile phone does not have to be "in use" for this length of time. The fact that it is turned on, and in your bio-field, means that it is altering your body frequency and immune system.
People have become accustomed to surfing the net, using social media, and even watching television on their smart phone. More and more apps are being developed for smart phone users. Many are cancelling land line use and switching to cell phone only. This means that as the usage of cell phones increases, so does the risk of brain cancer.
Another cause for alarm is the amount of radiation we are subjected to from laptop and desktop computer monitors, hand-held e-readers, playbooks and i-pads. Radiation Safety standards are higher in most European countries. For example, the Swedish safety standard for computers is a maximum of 0.25 milligauss at 50 cm (about 20 inches) from your display screen. Many US and Canadian screens emit 5-100 milligauss at that distance. There is some disagreement as to what a "safe" reading is. Sweden has suggested a background reading of 2 milligauss. Other countries suggest 1 milligauss or less. The average time spent on computers has increased dramatically, just like the usage of cell phones. Children are more susceptible because their brains and immune systems are still developing. As the usage of computers and hand-held devices increases, so does the risk of brain cancer.
In 1989 the US Department of Energy reported that "it has now become generally accepted that there are, indeed, biological effects due to field exposure" from EMFs. It is not just the short-term effects that are evident. Long-term studies are now surfacing showing a higher risk of various cancers due to EMF exposure.
Short-term exposure can produce headaches, dizziness, lack of concentration, fatigue, heart palpitations, compromise immune function, affect sleep, decrease the effectiveness of therapeutic drug treatment, cause skin rashes and decrease mental and physical well-being.
Long-term exposure can produce mutations, cancer and degenerative brain diseases.
We are all living in a world that is contaminated with Electropollution. Isn't it about time that we find radiation protection for ourselves and our children?
