5 Detox Tips for a Lean Body

Detoxing your body is an excellent way to jump start a weight loss program. Over time, toxins in the air we breathe, water we drink, and foods we eat can build up in the body. These toxins are stored in the fat cells, often causing weight gain, digestive problems, aches and pains, and even skin issues. A detox regimen can help your liver and kidneys eliminate the toxins causing these issues more quickly and effectively. Below we've included a list of five ways you can eliminate toxins from your body and speed up the weight loss process.
Eliminate Toxins
The first step in any detox regimen is to minimize your intake of harmful substances in your diet. This can include:
• Alcohol
• Caffeine
• Tobacco
• Refined sugar
• Saturated fat
• Processed foods
These foods are not only unhealthy they can hamper your body's natural ability to heal itself. Eliminate these items entirely or substitute healthier, more natural options instead.
Hydrate Properly
Most people underestimate the importance of drinking enough water. The average woman should drink around 3.7 liters of water per day, while men should consume about 2.7 liters. This number should be increased if you are following a detox plan or are attempting to lose weight. To calculate how much water you should be drinking per day, multiply your weight by 2/3, or.67 in order to determine the number of ounces you should be drinking each day. You can then increase this by your physical activity level. You should add at least 12 ounces of water for every 30 minutes of work out activity.
Exercise
Exercising is one of the most important ways you can help your body detox. Consider martial art forms such as Qigong and Tai-Chi, as well as practices such as yoga. Your body eliminates waste through perspiration, so any activity that can get your heart pumping and help you work up a good sweat is a good choice.
De-Stress
When you're stressed, your body can produce a number of hormones and chemicals that encourage your body to retain water and reduce its ability to eliminate harmful substances. Furthermore, stress triggers the production of cortisol, which has been shown to encourage the production and storage of body fat around the middle. Engaging in any activities that relieve stress in a healthy way can help eliminate toxins and speed the weight loss process.
Supplements
There are a number of natural supplements you can take that help your body detoxify. Herbs such has burdock, milk thistle, green tea extract, and dandelion root help stimulate and protect the liver, your body's main organ for getting rid of toxins. Increasing your intake of vitamin C can encourages the production of glutathione, a compound naturally produced by the liver to drive away toxins.

How to Get Rid of Drug Addiction

Drug addiction is a vicious circle which is enslaving many with its deadly grip. To break free from this needs lots of organized effort and will power from the part of the addict as well as well wishers.
Addiction recovery is not that easy. It is a rough road. Many a times an addict finds himself in despair. He starts showing destructive, addictive behavior all the more. Withdrawal symptoms are difficult to handle. But even though they are tackled efficiently, if the addict is not taught coping skills, he may not be able to lead a decent life in the society. And the stark reality is that once they are not able to adjust with the new life and society, they return to the familiarity of their earlier addiction.
Mostly drugs like methadone are given to ease the symptoms of withdrawal. In fact, here one medicinal drug is replaced with another in case results are not seen immediately. The net result is that the recovering adult is still dependent on chemicals. Hence it is better to help the addict go through the withdrawal process naturally.
The first step in drug rehabilitation program is detoxification. Here the addict stops all drugs and begins rebuilding his health. Vitamin and mineral supplements provided along with relaxing exercises calm muscles and mental agony. Afterwards private sittings through one-on-one contacts help to solve the emotional instability. Lasting relief through this is possible in the hands of a trained professional. This second step is called Therapy, where the mind and body learn to adjust with the withdrawal from the chemicals they were reliant on.
The third step is called Integration, where the individual learns to cope with drug free life. Thus he is once again brought back into the society.
In order to get rid of drugs the basic thing that an addict should do is to admit that he cannot control his addiction. He should admit that he needs help. It is always better to rely upon a super power, which can give him strength. The person on the path of recovery should be motivated to examine his past mistakes so that he can take remedial steps. A new life style must be inculcated in him so that he learns to live a new life. Finally, the erstwhile addicts would be of immense help to recover those who suffer from the same addictions.
There are certain holistic treatment attempts which address the root cause of an individual's addiction. Such treatments provide them with opportunity to learn new job and life skills. Relapse can be prevented by helping the person to start a new life in the society. The important thing is to boost up the confidence of the individual so that he can come back to the society and serve it constructively.

Detox - New Year - New Body

You've eaten and drunk well over the Christmas and New Year period, but you now find your self sluggish and slow and not ready to get into the swing of things again.
Well one way of getting yourself up and going again is to start a detox programme. The whole idea is to remove the toxins from you body caused by substances such as alcohol, tobacco and food consumed during the festive period. A detox programme helps your body by cleaning out the toxins that you have absorbed by passing them from your skin, liver and kidneys, which act as cleansing filters. The whole idea of a detox diet is to strengthen up the organs that your body uses to carry out detoxification of the toxins on a normal day-to-day basis and release the toxins that have become stored up in your body.
You may find that the detox programme you decide to use could have a number of different elements to it i.e., diet, nutritional supplements and herbs, exercise and possibly a number of alternative treatments. You may even decide to purchase a detox course from any good pharmacy or health shop.
The best and probably the most cost effective way of being able to remove the toxins from your body is to start eating more fresh fruit and vegetables and also drinking plenty of water. Wherever possible the fruit and vegetables that you eat should have a good source of fibre and one such fruit is a banana. Also try and drink at least 2 litres of water each day. If you find that water is a little bland, then try and jazz it up a bit with some lemon juice or even flaxseed, both of which act as a fairly good laxative.
When preparing the fruit and vegetables that you are going to eat, make sure that you prepare them as simply as possible, try not to add too many spices or oil to them. A good way of preparing vegetables for such diets is to steam them, thus you are retaining many of the vital nutrients that you require to assist your body during the detoxification period.
By following such simple rules you will find that your body is more effectively able to absorb the nutrients that it requires and will assist with the effective removal of the toxins that it has absorbed during the festive season. Also you may also find that your body has more vitality and stamina and there may well be an improvement in your digestive system as well. Finally, you may also find that you are more focused and able to deal more effectively with the stresses and strains of every day life.
